Who should apply
Calling all NGOs, non-profits, and community groups. If you’re facing some of these challenges regarding a community space or site in your care, ANTARA Lab would love to help.
-
Have a ‘dead’ space with low activity and engagement?
-
Want to upgrade a space but unsure of new direction?
-
Town hall meetings that don’t go anywhere positive?
-
Trouble marketing your space clearly to the right people or partners?
ANTARA Lab is looking for non-profit, social impact, or community-led initiatives within the Klang Valley to support with our placemaking services. Organisations outside of Klang Valley or Malaysia may also reach out if you can cover travel expenses.
How we can help
Through mapping, strategising, or capacity building, we have helped clients
-
Grasp the social, environmental, and economic puzzle pieces of a site
-
Craft a collective vision for a place together with community — and communicate it well
-
Activate a place through intentional partnerships and collaborations
-
Build trust for improved decision-making for a site
How to apply
Tell me more about your project here and we’ll see if ANTARA Lab is a good fit. Or if you know of an organisation that would be interested, please pass this post along.
Typically, ANTARA Lab supports 2 - 3 projects a year, depending on our capacity. Therefore, applications are received on a rolling basis, which means there are no deadlines, i.e. we will accept applications as long as we have the capacity to support you.
Let’s collaborate!
More about us
ANTARA Lab is a Placemaking Consultancy based in Kuala Lumpur. I founded ANTARA Lab after a decade of working with communities through journalism, education, and arts management roles. My experience allowed me to hone skills like stakeholder consultation, consensus building, community engagement, and commmunication strategies.
Since starting ANTARA Lab, I’ve always kept an eye out for non-profit causes that would benefit from placemaking efforts.
These are some examples:
-
Designed community engagement outreach to raise awareness on how residents can have a say in development outcomes of their neighbourhood in Petaling Jaya.
-
Facilitated a community garden group in Kuala Lumpur when they needed to revise their outdated vision and mission.
-
Trained teachers in Sindhupalchok, Nepal to utilise place to make their classroom syllabus more applicable to real life.
Here’s to creating more places that bring people together!
Sincerely,
Adeline Chua
Founder & Lead Consultant of ANTARA Lab
